Embroidery Washaway Dissolvable 1.75oz Non-Woven is a water-soluble embroidery stabilizer designed to provide temporary support and stability during machine embroidery while completely removing with water after the design is finished.
Unlike traditional cut-away or tear-away backing that remains behind the embroidery, Washaway is designed for applications where little to no permanent stabilizer should remain. Once the embroidery is completed, the stabilizer dissolves with water, leaving the embroidered design with a clean and professional finished appearance.
The 1.75 oz non-woven construction provides dependable support during stitching, helping stabilize the fabric and reduce movement, puckering, and distortion as the embroidery machine builds the design.
Washaway stabilizer is especially useful for lightweight, sheer, delicate, or specialty fabrics where conventional backing may remain visible or create unwanted stiffness. It can also be used for freestanding lace and other embroidery applications where the stabilizer must be completely removed from around and behind the finished stitches.
The non-woven construction provides an even, consistent surface for embroidery while maintaining the water-soluble characteristics needed for easy removal. Depending on the design, fabric, and stitch count, multiple layers may be used when additional stabilization is required.

- Hoop the stabilizer and garment together when appropriate for the application.
- Make sure the stabilizer remains smooth and secure before beginning embroidery.
- Use one layer for applications requiring light to moderate stabilization.
- Additional layers may be used when greater support is required for the design or fabric.
- Embroider the design using normal machine settings appropriate for the garment, thread, and design.
- After embroidery, carefully trim or tear away large areas of excess stabilizer when practical.
- Dissolve the remaining stabilizer with water to remove material from behind and around the embroidery.
- Always verify that the garment or fabric can safely be exposed to water before using a wash-away stabilizer.
