Tintable specialty plastisol puff base engineered to produce elevated, dimensional prints with excellent lift, durability, stretch, and wash resistance for premium textured screen printing applications.

Characteristics

Avient K2570 ASI Infinite FX NuPuff Base is a specialty plastisol screen printing base formulated to create a raised, dimensional “puff” texture when properly printed and cured. Designed for professional textile decoration, NuPuff expands during the curing process to produce an elevated surface with excellent lift and visual dimension.

The formulation is engineered to resist over-expansion, helping reduce the possibility of the puff structure collapsing during curing. This controlled expansion makes NuPuff Base an excellent option for decorators looking to produce consistent dimensional effects across production runs.

K2570 NuPuff Base is tintable with compatible plastisol colorants, allowing printers to create a wide range of custom puff colors. Avient recommends pigment-loading limits based on the colorant system being used, making the base highly versatile for custom color development and specialty-effect graphics.

Designed for printing on 100% cotton, cotton blends, and select synthetic fabrics, NuPuff Base provides excellent fabric adhesion, stretch properties, and wash durability. For maximum lift, Avient recommends printing directly onto the fabric whenever possible.

Different dimensional effects can be created by adjusting ink deposit and printing technique. Multiple print passes, thicker stencils, flash curing, and overprinting with standard or specialty inks can all be used to create unique textures and levels of elevation.

For multi-color designs, the puff layer should be flashed before additional colors are overprinted. Avient Infinite FX Flexipuff Additive may also be incorporated when additional rise is desired.

Pigment Loading

NuPuff Base can be tinted with compatible plastisol colorants. Avient recommends the following starting maximum pigment-loading percentages:

  • Wilflex PC: Up to 10%
  • Wilflex EQ: Up to 15%
  • Wilflex MX/RIO: Up to 30%
  • Rutland C3 Boosters: Up to 15%

Reduce the amount of white colorant normally used in the formula because the specialty puff base will lighten the finished color.

Usage Tips
  • Use consistent, high-tension screen mesh and sharp-edged squeegees for the best print results.
  • Print directly onto the fabric whenever possible to maximize the puff effect.
  • Use multiple print passes or thicker stencils when additional ink deposit and dimension are required.
  • For multi-color printing, flash the puff layer before overprinting additional colors.
  • Flash at approximately 220°F (105°C) and fully cure at approximately 320°F (160°C).
  • Avoid excessive curing conditions even though NuPuff is formulated with over-expansion protection.
  • Add Infinite FX Flexipuff Additive when additional rise is desired.
  • Large solid puff areas may cause lightweight fabrics to pucker. Avient recommends using a mezzotint or dot pattern, such as an approximately 80% solid pattern, to help minimize puckering.
  • Always test the complete ink, fabric, print, and cure combination before beginning production.
  • Store between 65–90°F (18–32°C), away from direct sunlight.
  • Use within one year of receipt for recommended performance.
  • Clean screens and equipment using standard plastisol cleaners, press wash, or ink degradant.
